Hi! I am Captain Vijay Madhav Damley. After sailing at sea for 26 years, I worked with commercial shipping in India for 16 years before hanging my sea boots. Now I have taken up teaching challenge. Don’t ask me for my age, people don’t age at sea. I must be 30-35, who has time to count birthdays?
This is my attempt to make teaching a modern and friendly job by keeping upto date with today’s world. I am open to suggestions, criticism and more, for improving process of teaching/learning. Most of the time it is difficult to stay on same frequency with young student as we are in 2 different worlds. Dealing with young, fertile and innovative minds is not an easy task. It is indeed a challenging job making “video generation” visualize a ship and shipping life which they have not seen. Unfortunately without visualization, whatever is spoken in the classroom does not make any sense to youngster. I always recommend Internet for better visualization.
I hope I can simulate ship’s life in your mind.
