EMERGENCY DRILLS AND PROCEDURES

·         Drills are done for Fire and Abandon ship

·         Participation is compulsory

·         Drills may save your life someday

 

Chapter 5

FIRE PRECAUTIONS

·         Smoking in designated areas only

·         E-cigarettes can cause a fire

·         Do not alter electrical fittings anywhere.

·         Do not use unapproved electrical heaters

·         Watch out for Spontaneous combustion Dirty or damp waste, rags, sawdust and other rubbish – especially if contaminated with oil – may generate heat spontaneously, which may start a fire. Such waste and rubbish should, therefore, be properly stored until it can be safely disposed of.

·         Flammable materials are never stored in Machinery spaces and Galley.

 

Chapter 6

SHIP SECURITY

Shipboard security is essential in reducing the risks of theft, terrorism, armed robbery, stowaways, piracy and drug smuggling.

·         Follow all instructions and plans

·         Be very serious about security

·         In port, appropriate security precautions are taken, including ensuring adequate lighting at night and that a gangway watch is maintained at all times.

·          At sea, appropriate precautions are taken including, where appropriate, posting additional lookouts and security rounds. Lookouts should be alert to the approach of lit or unlit craft. Consideration should be given to the use of night-vision equipment.

 

Chapter 7

HEALTH SURVEILLANCE

·         Shipping company conducts medical examinations for all seafarers

·         In case of health-related issues, Medical help is provided by the company.
