Vikrama and Vetala story
As enjoyed in the childhood, but modified now
King Vikrama faces many difficulties in bringing the Vetala to the tantric. Each time Vikrama tries to capture the Vetala, it tells a story that ends with a riddle. If Vikrama cannot answer the question correctly, the vampire consents to remain in captivity. If the king knows the answer but still keeps quiet, then his head shall burst into thousand pieces. And if King Vikrama answers the question correctly, the vampire would escape and return to his tree. He knows the answer to every question; therefore the cycle of catching and releasing the vampire continues twenty-four times.
Now we continue with the addition of a 25th story.
King Vikrama is on his way to tantric with a dead body on his shoulder. Vetala is living in that body. Vetala starts a new story
There was a man who wanted to enjoy natural beauty. He went for a walk in a park on the green grass. There was a poisonous snake in the grass, he bit man on his calf. The man fell down in agony and died. So Vikrama, why did it happen? You know the conditions of our agreement. Tell me the truth.
King Vikrama said, Hey Vetala! That man was not aware of the risk. He did not assess the risk before going for a walk therefore he died.
Vetala smiled and said your right. Before undertaking any job or activity one must assess the risk involved. Vetala laughed and escaped to his crematorium.
King Vikrama restarted all over again. He captures Vetala again and starts his journey to Tantric again. Vetala starts another story.
The man I told you about last time was given another chance by the God (Like WWF wrestler “Undertaker” having 7 lives). This time man went for a walk and was aware that there may a snake. He saw the snake in the grass and thought that snake may be non-venomous. He had learned that more than 70% snakes are non-poisonous. He decided to catch the snake. The Snake bit him and he died. So Vikrama, why did it happen? You know the conditions of our agreement. Tell me the truth.
King Vikrama said, Hey Vetal! That man was wiser this time but his knowledge about snakes was not enough. He assumed that the snake was not poisonous, hence was not aware of the risk. He did not assess the risk before trying to catch the snake therefore he died.
Vetala smiled and said your right. Before undertaking any job or activity one must fully understand and assess the risk involved. Vetala laughed and escaped to his crematorium.
King Vikrama restarted all over again. He captures Vetala again and starts his journey to Tantric again. Vetala starts another story.
The man I told you about last time was given yet another chance by the God. This time man went for walk and was aware that there may a snake. He saw the snake in the grass and thought that snake may be venomous. He had learned his lesson. He decided to catch the snake. He had seen snake catchers in action on TV and followed them on National Geographic channel. He approached snake as seen on TV, but Snake bit him and he died. So Vikrama, why did it happen? You know the conditions of our agreement. Tell me the truth.
King Vikrama said, Hey Vetal! That man was wiser this time and his knowledge about snakes was enough. He also assumed that the snake was poisonous, hence was aware of the risk. However, he did not have proper training, therefore, he did not take proper precautions. This was a case of proper risk assessment but no training for the activity or job therefore he died.
Vetala smiled and said you are right. Before undertaking any job or activity one must fully understand and assess the risk involved as well as must have proper training. Vetala laughed loudly and escaped to his crematorium.
King Vikrama restarted all over again. He captures Vetala again and starts his journey to Tantric again. Vetala starts another story.
The man I told you about last time was given yet another chance by the God. The man decided that he need training so he attended a training course and learned how to catch a snake. This time man went for walk and was aware that there may a snake. He saw the same old snake in the grass and knew that the snake was venomous. Still, he decided to catch the snake. He followed all training moves and got snake cornered. However, while holding the snake, he got bitten by the snake and died again. So Vikrama, why did it happen? You know the conditions of our agreement. Tell me the truth.
King Vikrama said, Hey Vetal! That man was much wiser this time and his knowledge about snakes was enough. He also assumed that the snake was poisonous, hence was aware of the risk. He even had proper training but he did not use proper PPE. Proper PPE would have protected him.
Vetala smiled and said you are right. Before undertaking any job or activity one must fully understand and assess the risk involved as well as must have proper training and PPE. Vetala laughed loudly and escaped to his crematorium.
King Vikrama restarted all over again. He captures Vetala again and starts his journey to Tantric again. Vetala starts another story.
The man I told you about last time was given yet another chance by the God. Even God is getting angry with that man’s stupidity. This time man went for walk with a friend. He told his friend his intention of catching a poisonous snake in the park. He instructed friend about actions to be taken in case he gets bitten. He saw the same old snake in the grass. As per the plan, he decided to catch the snake. He dressed properly with PPE, followed all training moves and got snake cornered. This time he used snake catching stick. He caught the snake, held it far from his body and put it in a jar. He took the jar to a forest and released snake in wilds taking all precautions. This time he did not die. So Vikrama, why did it happen? You know the conditions of our agreement. Tell me the truth.
King Vikrama said, Hey Vetal! That man was much wiser this time and his knowledge about snakes was enough. He also assumed that the snake was poisonous, hence was aware of the risk. He had proper training, PPE, tools (Equipment) and the rescue team. Since he followed proper procedure, he was successful in his venture of catching the snake safely.
Vetala smiled and said, Vikrama you are right again. Before undertaking any job or activity one must fully understand and assess the risk involved as well as must have proper training, use proper PPE and equipment. A person should also assume the worst and have rescue plan ready. Vetala laughed loudly and escaped to his crematorium.
